Our Cattle at Elm Acres Farm
At Elm Acres Farm, our focus is building practical, forage-developed cattle that thrive in real-world conditions. We raise registered Red Angus breeding stock selected for efficiency, longevity, and true low-input performance.
Our herd is developed on grass — not pushed with heavy feed. We believe cattle should convert forage into pounds efficiently while maintaining body condition, fertility, and structural soundness. Every female is expected to breed back on time, raise a vigorous calf unassisted, and remain productive for years to come.
A key part of our system is maximizing days on pasture. We extend our grazing season as long as possible by utilizing crop residue and diverse summer annuals, allowing our cattle to harvest their own feed well beyond the traditional grazing window. This approach strengthens rumen capacity, improves adaptability, and ensures the cattle we sell are developed in a practical, working environment.
Through regenerative grazing practices, we build soil health first — because resilient soil produces resilient cattle. Our goal is to offer breeding stock that works for commercial producers seeking fertility, docility, maternal strength, and forage efficiency without excessive inputs.
At Elm Acres Farm, we’re not just raising cattle — we’re developing genetics designed to thrive on grass and stand the test of time.
At Elm Acres Farm, we are intentional about selecting cattle that qualify for Tenet® Tender certification — a DNA-authenticated tenderness standard. By incorporating genetic testing into our selection process, we identify animals with proven markers for consistent tenderness and carcass quality. This allows us to build a herd that not only thrives in a low-input, forage-based system, but also delivers a reliably premium eating experience backed by science.
